‘ The Fall In Fall

I tried to capture the moment when an Autumn leaf, going through degradation, first hits the ground.

Here I am pictured with the well known garden designer (Lady) Xa Tollemache, whose steadfast support and valuable insights have greatly enhanced my work.

20-gauge stainless steel was hand-shaped and plasma-cut. Areas not plasma-cut were etched using a gravizer pen.

The top layer of the stainless steel is removed, allowing natural oxidation to transform the surface over six months into a rich bronze hue, reminiscent of an autumn leaf.

The support in the photograph is just for presentation. The leaf usually sits at ground level with a support rod set in concrete.
