This particular lion is called ‘Clement’ and he won a Platinum Award in The Koestler Arts Competition back in 2023.

The idea of creating a lion actually came about quite by accident. I found myself in a garage, surrounded by a group of mechanics, carefully inspecting the underside of what I believe was a Marina. As I observed the structure, I casually remarked that the wishbones looked remarkably like a lion’s hind legs when it reared up. In response, I was met with their blank, puzzled stares, as if my comment had caught them completely off guard.

This is what inspired me to create the lion.

Clement is a unique creation constructed primarily from car engine and car gearbox parts. His hair is crafted from shed cladding panels, giving him a distinctive look, while his claws are made from alternator cogs. Weighing 72 kg and standing at 5 feet tall, Clement combines mechanical elements with creative design to form an extraordinary figure.
